When it comes to ceramics and mastering throwing, master potter Simon Leach belives that "spaced repetition" is a great way of learning.

In other words you teach on a subject ,leave it a while then teach on it again!! Let's become proficient throwers first, then become proficient artists if we hang on in there . Too many people wanting to become "artists" in clay without ever doing their "time" in learning the basic skills.

Self expression, without the skill to execute, kind of ends up in a mess, so keep practicing in order to gain competence to execute your inspirations.
